If you wanted to be a speaker, missed the opportunity to submit your talk & still have something to say, we have the perfect opportunity for you to get your message across in a quick but helpful way at this inaugural WordCamp Riverside.   What I am referring to is our Lightning talk Sessions.  During our Lightning sessions six presenters from the audience will have the opportunity to present a short talk to the WordCamp Attendees.

Lightning Talks Defined

Our Lightning talk speakers  will each have 8 minutes to give their talks (4 minute talk + 4 minute Q& A) on a topic of their choosing that is relevant to the conference audience.

How will the process work?

1.)  You will have the opportunity sign up for a Lightning Talk by adding your name on a sheet of paper we provide in the morning.  Add your name & topic.
2.)  Our organizing team will pick six talks to be delivered in the afternoon during the time of the talks.
3.) Attendees of the camp will be privileged to hear your talk! 

Lightning talks can be rehearsed and delivered with slides, or they can be completely freestyle and spontaneous. You choose!

Caveat:  Your Lightning Talk  cannot have a commercial focus or present a paid product.

We chose to add Lightning talks to the Inaugural WordCamp Riverside schedule because we felt it reflects our SoCal community with a mix of the formal and the informal.

Reflecting The Global WordPress Community

The global WordPress community is one that actively promotes a continuous flow of education and this WordCamp sticks solidly to that mission.  If you have a quick four minute talk and did not sign up to speak officially but still want to present then come to the “Mission” Track on Sunday and share it with us in a Lightning Talk!

Riverside California is a city that is leading the way in the tech scene in the Inland Empire.  From the massive amounts of resources that they have in vested into infrastructure in the city to support a tech scene, to the most recent event that included a Startup Week and Regular Tech Meetups.

WordCamp Riverside 2017 is a tech and business training event for people using or interesting in using the Open Source WordPress Platform. Sessions will be offered for users of every level, meals will be catered and all in attendance will have a great experience. The price of the event is $40 and underwritten by our generous sponsors which include GoDaddy, Bluehost & others… WordCamp is a global event with similar gatherings in places like Stockholm, Athens, Paris & Europe but this is our debut event in Riverside, the first of it’s type in Inland Empire.
